Christmas Is-
~
The sweetest carol ever sung
Proclaimed my Saviour's birth,
As hosts of angels hovered o'er
The Lord of Heaven and earth.
~
It matters not the month He came,
Nor yet the day nor hour;
The glorious truth is that this babe
Was God in all His power.
~
I cannot comprehend, I'm sure,
That mother's pondered thought,
As she in silence gazed upon
This Son her labour brought.
~
And then a song burst from her heart
In praise to God above
That of all maidens He chose her
To bear this Son of love.
~
There is no voice of mortal tongue
That can express the joy
That then was show'red upon the world
In that wee Baby Boy.
~
But baby boys will soon grow up,
And hers was no exception.
As years flew by she was amazed
At His all-wise perception.
~
How sacrilegious seems to be
This crass commercial din
The world has stooped to thus employ
To honour such a King!
~
The love of God for sinful man-
Oh, hear the clarion call!
Gift giving's but a symbol of
The greatest Gift of all!
~
In silence let me bow my knees
And bare my heart to Heaven
To say I want no other gift
Than what to me's been given
~
He is my King! My holy King!
I'm in His family.
Yet I'm a princess of no worth
Beyond His love for me.
~
This fact is such a precious truth,
I've scarcely breath to tell,
That He would go to such great length
To rescue me from Hell.
~
No wonder songs and praise break forth;
To Him 'tis more than due!
Tongues cannot find words to proclaim
His love for me-AND you!

The True Cost Of Christmas
~
It cost Mary and Joseph the comforts of home during a long period of exile in Egypt to protect the little Babe.
~
It cost mothers, in and around Bethlehem, the massacre of their babies by the cruel order of Herod.
~
It cost the shepherds the complacency of their shepherd's life, with the call of the manger and to tell the Good News.
~
It cost the wise men a long journey and expensive gifts and changed lives.
~
It cost the early Apostles and the early church persecution and sometimes death.
~
It cost missionaries of Christ untold suffering and privation to spread the Good News.
~
It cost Christian martyrs in all ages their lives for Christ's sake.
~
More than all this, it cost God the Father His own Son-He sent Him to the earth to save men.
~
It cost Jesus a life of sacrifice and service, a death cruel and unmatched in history.

Count Your Blessings
~
When upon life's billows you are tempest-tossed,
When you are discouraged, thinking all is lost,
Count your many blessings, name them one by one,
And it will surprise you what the Lord hath done.
~
Refrain:Count your blessings, name them one by one;
Count your blessings, see what God hath done;
Count your blessings, name them one by one;
Count your many blessings, see what God hath done.
~
Are you ever burdened with a load of care?
Does the cross seem heavy you are called to bear?
Count your many blessings; ev'ry doubt will fly,
And you will be singing as the days go by.
~
When you look at others with their lands and gold,
Think that Christ has promised you His wealth untold;
Count your many blessings, money cannot buy
Your reward in heaven, nor your home on high.
~
So amid the conflict, whether great or small,
Do not be discouraged, God is over all;
Count your many blessings, angels will attend,
Help and comfort give you to your journey's end.

The BIBLE In The Wall
Many years ago a lady in Spain wanted to do something for the Lord and decided to give away Bibles. While seeking possible recipients she came upon a man building a wall. When she discovered he had never owned a Bible, she offered him one, writing his name in it.
The man was too embarrassed to refuse it but when she left, he resolved, "I will never read this and I'll make sure no one else will either." He placed the book behind one of the stones and finished the wall, certain that at least this copy would be hidden forever.
A few years later an earthquake hit that area and an inspector, looking for damage, found a crack in the wall. He peered in and to his amazement saw the book. He carefully removed it, hurriedly turned the pages, and decided to take it home. That evening he was found earnestly studying the Word of God. Soon the inspector was on his knees thanking Jesus for dying for him. He yielded his life to his new-found Saviour and became a distributor for the Bible society in Spain, selling God's Word from town to town.
It was not long before he came upon a stonemason and offered him a Bible at a very low cost. The man told him he had sealed in a wall the only Bible he had ever owned. The distributor drew from his pocket the very Bible and glancing at the fly leaf told the man his name. The startled laborer sat down and listened to the distributor's story. Then he too decided to have a closer look at this strange book.
The power of the printed Word of God was again made manifest as the stoneworker also became a Christian and eventually a missionary in a foreign land where for many years he labored faithfully for his Saviour.

I found this story in a book that was given to us.

My Amazing Bible
~
My Bible's a source of surprising wealth;
A storehouse of food for the spirit's health;
A refuge of peace from a world in strife;
A place of surcease from the storms of life;
A firm foundation beneath my feet;
A shelter and shield from the noonday heat;
An unfailing help in the time of need;
A joy and comfort to all who read;
A Book that presents, as I read it more,
A friendly Face and an open door;
A plan for the man who is down-and-out;
A goal for the soul that is torn by doubt;
A chart for the heart that has lost its way;
A light in the night and a guide by day;
A care that is sure for the sin-sick soul;
A calm and a balm that can make men whole;
So planned and so grand that it stands alone,
The greatest Book that the world has known!

This Morning
~
Did you meet the Lord this morning ere you
saw a human face?
Did you look upon His beauty through
His all-abounding grace?
Did you bow in prayer before Him ere you went
upon your way?
Did you ask for strength to carry all the burdens
of the day?
Did you see His will in reading from
His Holy Word, and take
Of His promises a portion, blessed with love,
for His Name's sake?
Oh, how weak and worthless are we,
and our spirits quake within,
If we fail to meet the Master ere the pathway we begin.
How He waits to give His blessing on our lives another day.
Christian, never start with Him.
Let Him speak, and then, obey.
